Rabun Gap, Georgia, is an unincorporated area of Rabun County located south of Dillard, GA, and north of Mountain City, GA. The largest area ranges to the west of Hwy 441 through the Wolffork Valley, and the Rabun Gap zip code 30568 crosses into the outer reaches of the Betty’s Creek community. York House Road and the lower sections of Kellys Creek Road wind through the eastern communities of Rabun Gap. The most recognizable landmark is Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School, located across the valley from the Dillard House Restaurant. These visiting families lived in school farmhouses including a barn and land to work with modern farming techniques. The children attended school on the hill for “book learning.” Today, several of the old farmhouses are faculty residences, and much of the land is used for grazing cattle and leased for growing vegetables. The beautiful Georgian architecture of the main school buildings and dormitiories can be easily seen from Hwy 441.
Many people choose to live in the Rabun Gap area because of the convenient location, pastoral scenes, and high elevation homes with long-range mountain views. Sylvan Lake Falls, Chestnut Cove, and Walnut Mountain are popular developments for new homes and resales.
